Job Title:  Mechanical Engineer

Position Purpose:
The Mechanical Engineering function typically: performs static and dynamic design and analysis of mechanical systems, equipment and packages. Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs. Directs support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrications. Provides design information to drafting for packaging documentation.  This position executes mechanical engineering projects of limited scope under direct supervision. The primary focus of the position is to perform and document engineering tests, coordinate the procurement and assembly of mechanical components/equipment, and generate documentation.

Responsibilities:
Be responsible for sub module design engineering, reliability engineering and design for manufacturability activities in collaboration with suppliers. At a later stage of the project be responsible for design setup and documenting test fixtures and test procedures at the module suppliers' site. Perform and document engineering test reports. In support of design projects, coordinate the procurement and assembly of mechanical components/equipment and identify sources of critical parts and subsystems to resolve technical issues. Generate related alpha/gamma documentation for product release. Design or modify mechanical engineering layouts/schematics, and/or detailed drawings/specifications of limited scope under direct supervision. Perform basic engineering analysis under direct supervision. Troubleshoots a variety of mechanical problems. Effective use of engineering processes in the resolution of mechanical problems of limited scope. With supervision, establish task priorities. May be responsible for the design, development and implementation of custom mechanical tooling, fixturing, and associated processes to enable the handling, assembly and/or disassembly of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies throughout the product life cycle.

Job Specifications
Knowledge:
Limited use and/or application of basic principles, theories, and concepts. Knowledge necessary to perform job include: basic knowledge of mechanical engineering design, mechanics and material science concepts and techniques, including thermodynamics, heat transfer, measurement control, stress analysis, Finite Element Analysis, and system integration; and exposure to CAD tools.

Skills and Abilities:
Requires good skills in change management, problem solving, communication skills, customer orientation, product technology, personal effectiveness, team skills and quality.  Requires knowledge of systems and software necessary to perform job function such as Lotus Notes, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Inventor, AutoCAD, Oracle BOM, and/or Oracle ECO.

Education and Experience:
MS with  0~2 years deign experience or BS with 1~3 years experience.

Responsibilities:
Problem identification and troubleshooting a wide range of difficult mechanical problems.Define, coordinate, perform, and document engineering test reports. Supervise the development, design, or modify mechanical engineering layouts/schematics and/or detailed drawings/specifications of difficult scope. Supervise or perform engineering analysis of difficult scope. Independently prioritize tasks. Specify and review engineering documentation.Provide mentoring for less experienced engineers. Implements concepts for variety of product issues and mechanical solutions. Technically lead and/or execute engineering projects, including development of key suppliers.  Generate mechanical product specifications. May be responsible for the design, development and implementation of custom mechanical tooling, fixturing, and associated processes to enable the handling, assembly and/or disassembly of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies throughout the product life cycle.  Establishes standards across all operational processes.

Wide application of principles, theories and concepts in field plus working knowledge of related disciplines. Knowledge necessary to perform job include: working knowledge of mechanical engineering design, mechanics, and material science concepts and techniques, including proficiency in solving engineering problems using analytical techniques and engineering knowledge such as thermodynamics, heat transfer, measurement control, stress analysis, Finite Element Analysis, or system integration; basic knowledge of electrical and software engineering disciplines; working knowledge of CAD tools; and basic knowledge of appropriate materials, components and technologies used in the semiconductor equipment industry.
